Evaluations
Mental Health Evaluations
A mental health evaluation is used to identify any current psychological, emotional, or behavioral challenges or needs and to provide you with a recommendation for a treatment pathway if necessary. As a result of completing a mental health evaluation, you will have a better idea of your strengths, areas of growth, personality, impact of generational trauma, and any relevant diagnostic impression.
The Impact of Trauma
Regardless of the type of trauma you have suffered, the symptoms you are suffering are your body and mind’s well meaning, but unwise attempts to keep you safe and protected. A counselor can help you begin to decipher and understand what you have been through, where you are, and where you are going.
Trauma can significantly disrupt your quality of life and relationships because the symptoms you experience prioritize safety and protection first and foremost. Here are some common symptoms of trauma:
Flashbacks and Intrusive Thoughts
Uncontrolled, unwanted, and distressing memories of the traumatic event
Emotional Dysregulation
Intense emotional reactions, mood swings, and difficulty managing emotions.
Avoidance
Avoiding triggers of trauma, isolation, and withdrawal.
Hyperarousal
Increased anxiety, constant alertness, and trouble sleeping.
